Agriculture uses and benefits:

  • Granular Manganese Sulfate is a granulated manganese fertiliser for dry application to the soil.
It is also used as an ingredient in blended fertilisers.
  • Granular Manganese Sulfate is primarily intended for use in planting fertilisers in crops grown on calcareous soils.
Manganese deficiency most commonly occurs on alkaline (high pH) soils.
  • Manganese applied as fertiliser can be rapidly converted to plant-unavailable forms. For this reason, it is recommended that manganese be applied as foliar sprays where practicable, rather than to the soil.
  • In horticultural crops, manganese can be applied with routine crop protection sprays. Where manganese based fungicides such as maneb and mancozeb, e.g. Dithane M45, are being used, they often supply sufficient manganese to correct a deficiency.

Medical Uses:

  • Manganese Sulfate can be used as a dietary supplement and as a nutrient.
  • This product has also been used for the treatment of potable water for radium removal.
  • Manganese is important in the breakdown of amino acids and the production of energy. It activates various enzymes for proper digestion and utilization of foods.
  • Manganese also helps nourish the nerves and brain and is necessary for normal skeletal development.
